Worldwide Partners Agencies Shine in 2009

DENVER—The creative and strategic firepower of Worldwide Partners, Inc.’s agencies was recognized by award show judges and the marketing press in 2009. Partner agencies from around the world added hardware to their respective trophy cases, and one agency was named “Small Agency of the Decade” in the United States and another China’s best independent agency by the press in those markets.

WE Marketing Group, Shanghai, was selected as “China Independent Agency of the Year” from among 100,000 agencies in that country by agency search consultancy R3 and China Advertising Magazine. Meanwhile, ADWEEK in the United States bestowed its “Small Agency of the Decade” award on Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, Sausalito, CA.

“The whole network is proud that BSS&P and WE Marketing have earned such well-deserved recognition from the journalists who cover them,” said WPI president and chief executive officer Al Moffatt. “While these accolades do stand out, the creative and strategic accomplishments of our partner agencies in such areas as traditional advertising, digital, business-to-business and public relations have been recognized the world over by judging panels. As marketers begin to think differently about marketing their brands in a less monolithic fashion, we feel the balance of local strength and global coordination in inherent in the Worldwide Partners model will become more and more appealing to clients.”

WPI partner agencies were recognized in multiple markets around the globe across many different marketing disciplines. In addition to its small agency of the decade nod, BSS&P won gold for its work on Mini at the 2009 Effie Awards in the United States. Another WPI partner agency, WONGDOODY, Seattle, WA, also scored gold at the US Effies for its work on the Alaska/Horizon Air account. That agency was also lauded by the Los Angeles chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) with four Prism awards. A third WPI partner, Preston Kelly, Minneapolis, also won gold at the 2009 Effie’s competition for its work with Health Partners. Also at the Effie Awards, kirshenbaum bond + partners’ Kirshenbaum Bond/Dotglu, based in New York, won a silver award for its BMW work.

At the 2009 National Addy’s in the US, Worldwide Partners again made a strong showing by winning gold and silver trophies. National gold winners included: Brokaw, Inc., Cleveland, which won two golds; Rick Johnson and Company, Inc., Albuquerque, NM and Knoxville, TN-based The Tombras Group. Tombras also took home a silver award from this show, with Baltimore’s Carton Donofrio Partners, Inc., winning three silver awards. . 

Other decorated partner agencies in the United States and the awards won include:

  • Nerland Agency Worldwide Partners, Anchorage, AK, which took home the PRSA’s 2009 Silver Anvil Award of Excellence.
  • Rhea + Kaiser Marketing Communications, Naperville, IL, which earned “Best of Show” honors from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers “Measures of Success” marketing awards program.
  • Mintz & Hoke Communications Group, Avon, CT, which had five of its online clients awarded at the Web Marketing Association's WebAward.
  • Nicholson Kovac, Inc., Kansas City, MO, which along with its clients was honored with eight awards at the annual Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) PRISM Awards Gala.
  • JUICE Pharma Worldwide, New York, which won a silver award for innovation at the inaugural CLIO Healthcare Awards for its work with Pfizer.
  • CREAD, the in-house digital company of partner agency MGSCOMM, Coral Gables, FL, which was recognized with a gold in the 2009 W_Awards, honoring creative excellence on the web.
  • Hydrogen, Seattle, which won a “Telly” award.
  • Marsh, Inc., Cincinnati, which won American Design Awards® (ADA) for extraordinary design in the recent Semi Annual Design Contest for Summer 2009.
  • Archer>malmo, Memphis, which won 14 golds, 18 silvers and “best in show” in print and outdoor at the Memphis Advertising Federation’s Addy Awards.
  • Rosen + Brichta, Chicago, which was decorated by Creative Quarterly, The Journal of Art and Design for its campaign for The Chicago Tribune.

In Europe, Kyiv, Ukraine-based PROVID was again named the most effective agency in that country. Warsaw-based Legend Group snared Effie honors for its work on behalf of Nestle. Amsterdam-based LaMarque also won a SAN Accent price for its “Insperience” work for client Miele. DGT media, the digital arm of Torino, Italy-based In Adv, won a best in class for the automobile category at the New York Interactive Medium Awards.

In South America, Lygia Fernandes, creative director of The Group Communicacao Ltda., Sao Paolo, was voted Brazil’s “Promotional Marketing Professional” of the year by The Colunistas Promo Sao Paulo Award’s jury. The agency also won six other awards. Bogota, Colombia-based Silva Publicidad & Ci. a S.A. took home gold and bronze SABRE awards for its “Ingrid Belancourt Awareness” campaign.
