Welcome Mr. President!
Meet the new President/CEO of Worldwide Partners, John Harris. Based in Denver, John brings a depth of experience from both the agency and client-side of the business, a track record of driving organizational growth, and a multi-discipline skill set reflective of our industry’s evolving dynamics.
During John’s 15 years within the Omnicom (NYSE: OMC) system, he served three years as President of TBWA’s Karsh\Hagan Advertising where he generated the highest level of revenue and profit in the agency’s 30-year history, implementing a business development strategy that resulted in $5 million in new revenue and increasing the shop’s digital revenue by 500%. He was also responsible for securing the agency’s first global account, American Crew Hair Products.
As Senior Vice President of Omnicom’s The Integer Group, John led the retail, sports and entertainment marketing strategies for Coors Brewing Company, as well as developed shopper marketing campaigns for Procter & Gamble. John also launched the agency’s digital marketing practice, as well as the agency’s account planning department dedicated to understanding retail shopping behavior.
As Chief Strategy Officer for independent agency Location3 Media, John was a part of the executive team that specialized in providing search marketing, online media and content marketing leadership to multi-unit retail brands such as AT&T, US Airways and Stetson. While there, he launched the agency’s content planning capability resulting in double digit increases in revenue for the SEO, social media and content departments.
Prior to joining WPI, John served as Senior Vice President of Windowseat, an independently-owned, premium branded content agency specializing in developing and distributing content marketing solutions for brands including VANS, Nike and Quiznos among others.
John’s client-side experience includes serving as SVP of Marketing for Smashburger, a global fast casual restaurant chain, and as Chief Marketing Officer for Fresh Produce Clothing, a U.S.-based women’s fashion retailer.
“John has the expertise and energy we hoped to find to take us into the future,” writes Fernando Guntovitch, WPI Chairman; Jerry Rosen, WPI Vice Chairman; and Mary Farrell, WPI Secretary/Treasurer and Interim Executive Director in a statement introducing John as President/CEO of WPI. “His experience spans multi-national and independent agencies, as well as the client environment. He’s a listener, collaborator and leader.”
“We had a lot of qualified candidates to consider for this important position,” said Jeff Lucas of Wasserman & Partners/Traction. “John knows digital inside and out, plus he has run an agency and worked on the client side. We feel really confident that he is the guy to take us to the next level.”
“I’m looking forward to hearing John’s ideas and seeing how his leadership skill can bring everyone in the network together,” Christine Kilman of Gelia said.
“I am both honored and excited to be joining Worldwide Partners at this time in the network’s evolution. I look forward to working with the Board or Directors and our partners to build the most progressive global network of independent agencies who share an unmatched commitment to collaboration and growth,” adds John Harris.
John officially took the helm of Worldwide Partners on April 18 and will be based in Denver.
You’ll have a chance to meet him in person at the 2016 World Meeting. So while you are sipping a cold brew with John in Jamaica, you might ask him how he ended up in the Astrodome playing softball with Meat Loaf, Sam Kinison and the keyboardist for Journey. Or you could probe him about about his time on a Division 1 college soccer team. Or just welcome him to the world’s largest independent advertising agency network.
In the 14th version of the IT List, OBE stood out again this year. Part of the selection criteria calls for being fully experiential with work that is supported by evolved offerings, client testimonials, case studies and awards. Oh yeah, and the work has to be both high-caliber, creatively strong and consistent.
In business more than 20 years, partner OBE does about 75% B2C and 25%B2B for clients like Activision, Google, Genentech, Kellogg’s, Nike.
From the hundreds that entered the Event Marketer 2016 IT List, OBE made it again!

“In honor of World Cocktail Day on May 13th, your sister agency, o2ideas, wants you to share a drink with us.
“Go to http://www.o2ideas.com/world-cocktail-day and fill out the form to submit a picture or video and recipe of your favorite cocktail, “ Bill explains.
