Ten Questions with Khushboo Bhatt, Head of Creative Growth at Blink Digital

.

Khushboo Bhatt was interested in advertising from an early age, always fascinated by ads and jingles, and knew she wanted to be involved behind the scenes in their creation. While pursuing her MBA, she developed a growing interest in digital marketing and determined it was the right career path for her.

Today, Khushboo is AVP - Creative Growth at Blink Digital, where she leverages her empathic nature to nurture relationships and connect with people on a deeper level. She is an inspiring team player, showcasing an exceptional understanding of the digital space, a humble and mature attitude toward her relationship with clients, and an incredible eye for understanding briefs and forward-thinking.

Since being elected to Worldwide Partners’ Next Gen Council in July 2024, Khushboo has leveraged this forward-thinking mindset to refine our Young Indies creative competition in its second year.  (More to come this month and next when we’ll announce the Young Indies shortlist and winner!)

We asked Khushboo ten questions to learn more about her background, what excites her about the advertising industry, and what independence means to her.

WPI >> Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

Khushboo >> I've lived in Mumbai, India my whole life and still call it home!

WPI >> Three words to describe your personality.

Khushboo >> Left Brain, Emotionally Intelligent and Relentless

WPI >>  How did you end up in the advertising industry?

Khushboo >> It all started with my love for catchy jingles and memorable ads. I was curious about the behind-the-scenes process and how ideas came to life. During my MBA, my growing passion for digital marketing and its real-time impact sealed the deal, leading me to pursue a career in advertising.

WPI >> What excites you about the advertising industry? What pisses you off?

Khushboo >> What excites me most is not being tied to one industry or brand - What pisses me off? Free pitches.

WPI >> What was your first job and what did it teach you?

Khushboo >> My first job was at a boutique advertising agency, and it was an invaluable experience that shaped my professional foundation. It taught me not just the technical aspects of advertising but also the importance of agility, creativity, and relationship-building. Working in a close-knit environment gave me the independence to wear many hats, which honed my problem-solving skills and adaptability. It was a formative time that shaped my perspective on the industry and laid the groundwork for how I approach strategic thinking today.

WPI >> What is a book, movie, TV show or podcast that you find inspiring?

Khushboo >> I recently caught up on Ted Lasso (I know, a bit late to the bandwagon), and it genuinely inspired me to strive to be the best version of myself. The show’s message about leading with empathy, resilience, and optimism really resonated with me. It’s a great reminder that success isn't just about achieving results but also about lifting up those around you and fostering a positive, collaborative environment. It made me reflect on my own leadership style and how I can continue to empower my team while staying true to my values.

WPI >> What is one of the favorite projects you have worked on at your agency?

Khushboo >> There are plenty to choose from! But a recent standout was our campaign for Agoda, an online travel agency. We leveraged Generative AI to craft tailored communication for travelers planning their next trip, which not only enhanced personalization but also drove cost efficiency.

WPI >> What do you hope to get from being part of the Next Gen Council? What do you hope to accomplish?

Khushboo >> Having already connected with the council members, I’m genuinely inspired by the exchange of ideas and the spirit of collaboration. We’re actively sharing insights on how to grow as independent agencies through initiatives like Growth Gang, and it’s been incredibly energizing to be part of these conversations. What I truly value about the Next Gen Council is that it offers a seat at the table to not only discuss ideas but also turn them into practical initiatives that can drive real change. It’s an empowering space to shape strategies that strengthen the entire WPI network and make a tangible impact.

WPI >> What does independence mean to you?

Khushboo >> Autonomy

WPI >> What would you be doing if you weren’t in advertising?

Khushboo >> If I weren’t in advertising, I’d be a dog trainer - spending my days soaking up all the puppy love!
