CIBC Celebrates Miracle Day in the Biggest Way Yet

.

Toronto, ON – December 3, 2019 – Toronto-based creative agency FUSE and CIBC develop a larger-than-life, 10-foot-tall Thank You card to celebrate the 35th anniversary of CIBC Miracle Day, the bank’s annual fundraiser to help children’s charities across Canada and around the globe.

Each year at CIBC, on the first Wednesday of December, CIBC Capital Markets traders and CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to raise funds locally for children’s charities across Canada, the U.S., London and Hong Kong. And each year, this charitable tradition receives thousands of Thank You notes. This year, FUSE and CIBC put those Thank You notes at the heart of the Miracle Day campaign.

“It’s such a wonderful tradition and wonderful day where everyone comes together to help these children – what better way to say thank you than well, giving a literally HUGE thanks,” says Steve Miller, ECD at FUSE.

Using the symbol of a puzzle piece, Thank You notes were collected from children across several Canadian charities. The thanks are numerous. Ayla writes, “Now I can hear the birds sing.” Evan says, “Thank you for the Power Chair.” And Katelin draws a picture of her dog to express, “Thank you for Iggy, I love him.” The puzzle pieces represent CIBC clients, charities and employees all coming together on this special day. The campaign culminates the morning of December 4th with a larger than life, 10-foot card located at King & Bay made up of all the children’s Thank You notes/puzzle pieces. The activation will remain stationed until December 18.

The day begins at 8:30 a.m. with a Thank You event that will feature special guests who will help unveil the card. After the unveiling, the children and charitable partners will celebrate CIBC Miracle Day with activities on the trading floor.

The global campaign will be amplified through CIBC’s internal channels and banking centres, digital, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and an email campaign.

“Every year we receive so many thanks from children who benefit from the charities we support,” says Andrew Greenlaw, Vice President, Community and Client relationships, CIBC. “This year we are proud to share those thanks with our clients, team members and charitable partners as our team rallies around helping children achieve their goals, which is the spirit of Miracle Day."

CIBC’s annual employee drive tradition has raised more than $250 million to children’s charities across the globe since 1984.
