The ballots are in and we’re thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s WPI Impact Awards!
The Impact Awards, sponsored by Getty Images, is a global competition designed to recognize creativity and effectiveness of campaigns by Worldwide Partner’s independent agencies from across the globe. The awards were decided on by a Global Panel of judges from within the industry, with five award categories reflecting the key industry verticals that our brands operate within--Healthcare, Social Good, B2B, B2C, and Travel and Tourism. A Best in Show Award is also selected from all of the submitted work.
The awards ceremony was scheduled during our Global Summit in Austin, Texas last month, which had to be postponed. But we didn’t want our finalists to have to wait to hear results. So we came together virtually to announce the winners and celebrate their success!
Check out the full Impact Awards [virtual] ceremony here.
B2C Category
Winning Agency: Advance
Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Client: LEGO
Campaign: Stranger Things
To help launch the new LEGO Stranger Things set, Advance created a fittingly retro video. The commercial, or rather infomercial, brings back all the cheese we knew and loved (did we?) in the 80s--muzak, puffy sleeves, “but wait..there’s more”--with a dark twist at the end.
Viveca Chan, Chairman & CEO of WE Marketing Group and WPI Board Director, announced the B2C Award win to the Advance team.
B2B Category
Winning Agency: DirectionGroup Unlimited
Location: Reading, England
Client: Fujitsu
Campaign: If Tech Could Talk
To make Fujitsu heard in the noisy laptop space, DirectionGroup let technology do the talking. Quite literally. By providing a voice for inanimate office objects, they created a whimsical set of images and filmic vignettes activated through social and across digital media networks, which showed Fujitsu laptops in their best light.
Mikael Rubinsson, CEO of Blomquist and WPI Secretary & Treasurer, shared the big news with DirectionGroup--they won the B2B Impact Award!
Healthcare Category
Winning Agency: Progpeg
Location: Salvador, São Paulo, Brasília, Rio De Janeiro, Pernambuco, Brazil
Client: Halitus
Campaign: Ventriloquist
Propeg balanced the serious consequences of halitosis with a light-hearted message in their campaign for Halitus. In the video, a ventriloquist and his dummy are meeting with a therapist. The ventriloquist is using his doll because he is ashamed of his problem--however, it’s not the problem you’re expecting. The therapist recommends Halitus mouthwash to treat the man’s true issue--bad breath.
Propeg celebrating their win in the Healthcare category, presented by Eduardo Perez, Managing Partner with PM3 and WPI Board Director.
Social Good Category & BEST IN SHOW
Winning Agency: lg2
Location: Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Canada
Client: Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ)
Campaign: The Crossing Fence
lg2's "The Crossing Fence" campaign leveraged pop-up barricades throughout Quebec, Canada to help reduce the number of pedestrian-driver accidents. Using vehicle detection sensors, the yellow crosswalk lines on the street automatically rose upright when a car was approaching, but only if there was a pedestrian waiting to cross. This stunt reached 10 million people, not just in Quebec but around the world, and The Crossing Fence is now being used as an instructional tool for new drivers.
Jean-Paul Tréguer, CEO of BIGSuccess and TVLowCost and WPI Board Director, announced to the lg2 team that they won Social Good and Best in Show Impact Awards.
Travel & Tourism Category
Winning Agency: Cornett
Location: Lexington, Kentucky, USA
Client: VisitLEX
Campaign: Neigh-SMR
Noticing that a YouTube video of a woman quietly eating a pickle had received more than 20 million views, Cornett decided to try a similar approach for their client VisitLEX, the tourism office for Lexington, Kentucky. They swapped a horse for the woman (Lexington is the Horse Capital of the World after all) and apples, carrots and peppermints for the pickle (gotta give the horses what they want), and came up with an audio masterpiece! Please enjoy Neigh-SMR!
Fletcher Whitwell, Partner with R&R Partners and WPI Vice Chairman, presented the Travel & Tourism Impact Award to Cornett.
